Venues

Staunton Music Festival concerts take place in a variety of locations throughout historic downtown Staunton, Virginia. The downtown is compact (about 7 blocks long) and walkable from several hotels and B&Bs, restaurants, and numerous shops.  Click here to view a map of all SMF locations.

TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH 
214 West Beverley St

SMF’s primary venue. The sanctuary dating to 1855 features stunning acoustics, numerous Tiffany windows, and a specially designed stage. Trinity also hosts its own “Sundays at 5” concert series all year long, presenting free concerts and special liturgies, guest artists and in house musicians. Info at trinitystaunton.org. BLACKFRIARS PLAYHOUSE
10 South Market St
Only re-creation of Shakespeare’s indoor playhouse in the world and home to the American Shakespeare Center. Thrust staging and intimate seating.  Seats 300.

 

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
100 East Frederick St
Historically significant (Woodrow Wilson’s father was minister here in mid 1800s), First Presbyterian has a spacious sanctuary with balcony, perfect for daytime concerts. Church hosts Waynesboro Symphony and events from Mary Baldwin University. Seats 500.

 

 

CENTRAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
14 North Lewis St
Semi-circular sanctuary with balcony provides great atmosphere for concerts, rehearsals, and lectures. Fully accessible and intimate seating for all in attendance. Seats 260.

 

 

HUNT HALL AT MARY BALDWIN
via Academy St
Situated atop Mary Baldwin campus, Hunt Hall boasts numerous rooms, pleasant patios, and city vistas. (note: venue is not wheelchair accessible; multiple stairs involved)

 

 

FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH
17 North Lewis St
Wonderful acoustics and intimate setting are ideal for solo programs of Renaissance and Baroque. Seats 150. (note: access requires two steps at front entrance)

COBBLE HILL FARM
101 Woodlee Rd
Stately private residence located just one mile from downtown. Fabulous views and rustic charm. Seats 90.

BLACK SWAN BOOKS & MUSIC

Traditional book seller offering new and used items, as well as LP’s and vintage books. Seats 35. Sells SMF tickets too!

 

 

OX-EYE VINEYARD TASTING ROOM
44 Middlebrook Ave

Nestled into one of the most architecturally interesting buildings in town, Ox-Eye’s upstairs room is ideally suited for intimate music and atmosphere. Seats 50. (note: venue is not wheelchair accessible; multiple stairs involved)

FRANCIS AUDITORIUM AT MARY BALDWIN

Newly renovated stadium-style auditorium gives easy view of musicians and acoustics of more intimate space.
